Do you wear extensions?

YES! I’ve had natural beaded rows for a year now and LOVE them! They’re super easy to maintain (except for that time I snorkeled in Hawaii and ended up with the WORST matte). I plan on keeping them through April/May and then using clip in extensions over the summer so I can play and do my usual summer activities. When I use clip-in extensions, I love Milk+Blush extensions in shade paparazzi. I take them to my hair stylist and she trims it to blend with my natural hair.

How do you get so much volume?

I discovered an amazing tool a couple years ago to add volume without teasing. The Voloom texturizing tool is my favorite gadget of all time. My girlfriends all have it and can’t live without it either. It gives you quick volume that lasts until your next wash.

What do you ask for when you go in to get your hair colored?

Bright and ashy highlights. The hair around my face is very light but the hair at the crown of my head and underneath has gotten darker since I’ve had kids. My hair stylist, Paige at Agave+Ash in Phoenix, will do alternates foils between a base bump bringing my roots up two shades and then highlights the rest. She rinses it all out and then applies a gloss and toner to bring up the ash and add extra shine.

How often do you get your hair colored?

Every 6 weeks. My hair has gotten darker since I’ve had kids and it drives me crazy when it starts to get too grown out.

How often do you use purple shampoo?

Every wash. I use my regular, non purple shampoo and then add in some purple shampoo - mix them together and then lather and rinse. I lather and rinse right away. With the lightness of my hair it tends to grab the purple/gray tones really quickly and can leave my hair dull looking and sometimes even purple/blue tones. Depending on how light your hair is you may want to leave it in longer for more brightness but if you’re on the lighter side, I would rinse sooner than later.

How do you get your loose and beachy waves?

A 2 inch wand has been my go-to for loose beachy waves that last. I love a casual look and the larger barrel wand gives just enough wave. I part my hair down the center and then curl away from my face on each side. The trick to keeping the waves beachy instead of tight curls is to keep your wand pointed down instead of out to the side.
