HOW TO CREATE ENGAGING INSTAGRAM CAPTIONS - FAST
Captions used to be my least favorite part but they don’t have to be. Once I figured out the formula behind them I was able to create engaging captions quickly.
Here are 3 tips to creating engaging instagram captions, and fast!
GRAB THEIR ATTENTION
Your first line needs to hook them so they want to continue reading more and ultimately spend more time on your post and hopefully engage on your post.
Start with a catchy line or a question that gets them thinking. “Have you ever felt iike…” is one of my favorite attention grabbing first lines.
2. ADD LINE BREAKS TO LONGER CAPTIONS
Sometimes your photo requires a longer caption to tell the whole story or paint the full picture. In this case make sure you have your first line hook and then add a page break using emojis or symbols.
I’d suggest breaking up your longer captions in easy-to-read sections as well. Studies have shown that when our eyes recognize a longer paragraph that we automatically decide it’s going to be hard.
3. WRAP UP WITH A CALL-TO-ACTION
Finally, finish your caption with a call-to-action. These may feel cheesy at first but when done right, your audience can feel heard, you learn something new about your audience and they work!
A call-to-action is simply a question or as it reads, call to ACTION.
A simple question like, “where’s everyone from” or “does anyone else ever feel this way!?” are great call-to-actions to encourage interaction.
You could also use a simple phrase like, “double tap if you agree” or “tag a friend who would enjoy this”.
Don’t overthink these. Keep them fun and simple!
Don’t let captions get the best of you. With the proper planning and the 3 key ingredients we talked about above, captions will no longer be something you avoid.
